This bug dates back to April 2012. I've never had the problems described
above since then, I assume the problem was fixed by an update at one
time or another. In any case, I've upgraded to 14.04 now, this bug
report can be closed

I had the same problem after a clean install on this Acer Aspire One
netbook. For me it happened with gnome classic both with and without
effects. The solution keyboard settings shortcuts navigation and
set switch applications shortcut to Alt-Tab. worked fine for me.

I'm having problems with applets experiencing a problem at startup.
This is often the applet in the upper right-hand corner (the default
postition for this applet for an installation of gnome-fallback in
Ubuntu 12.04, I think it's called the indicator applet) . The eyes

I think there are a lot of users with limited disk space who need to
empty the trash, I certainly do. I think the gnome-panel developers
would do new users a favour by replacing the workspace-switcher with a
trashcan (I've never used the multiple workspaces). My $0.02.

Public bug reported:
There doesn't seem to be a way to empty the trash if you're using gnome-
fallback (with Ubuntu 12.04). This is easily remedied by alt right-
clicking a panel and installing a trashcan applet but it would be nice
if it were there out of the box.

Gedit is working again.
The problem turns out to be a gedit-R plugin for running progams using
the statistical programming language R. I don't recall installing the
R-plugin in 12.04 but I have installed it on 10.04 which uses the same
home partition as 10.04. I uninstalled gedit, which

I can't submit the crash report. I get the following message (in
Dutch):
Het probleem kan niet worden gerapporteerd:
Er staan enkele verouderde pakketversies op uw systeem geïnstalleerd.
Upgrade de volgende pakketten en controleer of het probleem nog steeds
optreedt.
libglib2.0-0, libxi6
False alarm, I deleted the old crash report, tried gedit and submitted
the new bug #950973

Gedit won't start up today, it worked fine a few days ago. The first
time this occurred, gedit crashed and Ubuntu started to generate an
error report. A message appeared that the bug wasn't valid or wasn't
applicable and told me to update some library. I ran updates,
I got this error directly after connecting to wireless, using ubuntu

I got this error message on a fresh install of Ubuntu 11.10 beta-1. All
updates had been installed and I'd rebooted, then I updated the language
packs. I got this error message after that had completed.

I encounter the temporary Nautilus freeze, too, when dragging files over
the Network item in the Places sidebar panel.
I observed this issue a bit and hope my results can help to clarify
things a bit.
First, it does not matter how many or what kind of files you drag. It

I think the two bugs point out different issues.
My problem is that eog shows the initial image in a slightly too low
window so that it is scaled down a bit. Which is not necessary since
there is enough screen space available for the window to show up big
enough for the image to be shown unscaled
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: eog
Since hardy, opening an arbitrary image file with eog (Eye of GNOME) may
bring up an initial window with an unsufficiant height.
As long as an image is smaller than eog's default window size,
everything is fine and eog displays the image centered in
Okay, I have finally managed to create a test case.
The attached 7z-archive contains a folder called files with three sub-
folders called folder-1, folder-2 and folder-3. Each of those
folders contain 1500 short text files. That is a total of 4500 text
files.

Unfortunately, I do still encounter this bug in Ubuntu Gutsy with either
p7zip or p7zip-full installed.
The output in my case is logically the same as shown in the initial bug
description. file-roller first creates the archive and adds the files
and then tries to do this update that produces the
