I politely concur that this bug is really an annoyance and totally understand why some people are losing patience. People do work in corporate environments using Ubuntu or other linux distros and this bug totally prevents accessing work shares. I've been trying to fiddle with protocol versions in smb.conf and I found no solution to this.
