gnome Keybard Layout is no

On Ubuntu Gnome 14.04 after every reboot my Keyboard Layout is back to US
again.
Under "Region & Language" --> Input sources the list only shows German. No US
whatsoever.
A workaround is to add any other Keyboard Layout and then remove it right away.
Then the German Layout
Testing this with 4.1.5 under Ubuntu 12.04, file load and save still don't work
with SMB shares.

I confirm exactly what VIDA wrote a month ago:

After installing all the packages suggested in
http://packages.ubuntu.com/lucid/brasero, I've tried to make a DVD
creatin g a new project and adding a VOB file made by my self. I'
clicked on Burn... and maintained the default suggestions. Instead of
