Ok so the issue I'm having now is that under my account, the iPhone appears in rhythmbox as "Apple iPhone", however it only shows me the movies/photos on it. I created a new user account and opened rhythmbox as that user, everything worked perfectly. Also, the iPhone appeared (correctly) as "Eddie

I realised that while my install was clean, my home directory was not (I keep it on a separate partition). I did a sudo apt-get remove rhythmbox --purge followed by a apt-get install rhythmbox and now it can see my iPhone. However it still isn't working quite yet - there is another issue which
