Hi guys, I've installed 14.04 and I have a similar problem. The screensaver
delay is fixed in 300 seconds (5 minutes).
I'm doing a sort or desktop lock-down and I've fixed various properties using
dconf and it's locks, but I had no luck with the screensaver delay.
The key is: /org/gnome/desktop/

I must concur as well. I faced the same problem even with the nouveau
drivers. So I don't feel its related to the nvidia drivers as well.
I did install ubuntu on a SSD under ext3 as well.

Guys, I must admit I jumped the gun a bit with my solution on #54. That
is not the real fix.
To tell if your problem is the race condition I mentioned run the
following 2 commands:
killall -9 gnome-settings-daemon
gnome-settings-daemon

Small update: it seems the bug affects me if I select a theme other than the
default Ambiance.
If I log on into my session with the ambiance theme I can switch to a different
theme and it loads with no problems. Once I reset or log out however, next
time I log back in the but reappears :(

I hitted this one with a guy I installed Lucid for, and I got good
results restarting the NetworkManager service. The icon is there, it
only doesn't display anything. The NetworkManager service restart forces
the icon to update itself.
Maybe you are loading the NetworkManager service too early...
same problem in lucid, is anyone doing anything to fix this?

Does anyone have problems with USB detection? ive been running karmic
(clean install from alpha) on an MSI100 with no problem till last
update. Then the brightness issue started. Also since then my system
cant see the USB ports. When i connect something, there is no event on
dmesg. I searched this
MSI wind with intel 945. No problem with Jaunty, screen flickers with Karmic
update.
Problem apears when connecting/disconnecting power source or closing the lid
(dim screen). It goes away by killing and restarting gnome-power-manager.
Isn't this the same buag as bug412492 ?

When double clicking txt files, Ubuntu uses Evince instead of gedit.
The result is that Evince reports that can't handle text/plain
