I can see this problem too but on regular systems running Maverick as
well as Natty. gnome-settings-daemon still running on both systems.
I would suggest to change the title and remove the VirtualBox stuff.
Anything else I can provide? apport-collect?

I have similar problems. Although it is not form related for me. A
regular pdf (Adobe Reader prints it right) has some parts (it looks
like it is extremly widely spaced and wraped to multiple lines) that
are malformed... Maybe this is a font issue...
While I can't post my PDF (invoice with too
as i stated in an upstream comment this might be related to
locale/keyboard layout settings...

i also face the problem of the weather information not showing up in
gnome-panel. I tried all the options mentioned here. the system is latest hardy
x86 updated from gutsy.

i have a (probably) related bug here on latest hardy i386. if totem
autostarts my DVD it loops/gets stuck while playing what seems to be the
first .vob file. If i choose Play Disc XY form the Movie menu it starts
playing correctly displaying entries 2 3 4 5 in the playlist.
This is an unencrypted
i think the problem is (half-way) solved in hardy. see

i just restarted my x server and nautilus was hanging/cunsuming one of
my cores. the nautilus-debug-log.txt file was filled with this

do you have other OSs on your computer that run well?
if not: have you checked your memory? e.g. with the livecd. there is an option
in the startup screen.
or: is there a certain time span involved? maybe your cpu overheats. try
installing boinc to heat up your cpu a bit ;-) and see what
can confirm for nautilus. see attached screenshot.

i just looked if ekiga locks(consumes my cpu power) already before
logging in. it doesn't. but when i logged in then it wasn't locked and
the window of ekiga came up which doesn't otherwise. i have ekiga in
autostart. so it seems to depend on how fast I do the relogin...
