If it helps in any way, I came to the conclusion that the "Place
windows" plugin is called even for windows that are already on the
screen, and not only for windows that are new, and that it changes the
position and size of the windows, so that the remain on the screen and
not overlap the panels.
The behaviour is also affected by the "Place windows" ability of Compiz.
If you turn this feature off (by CCSM), the problem doesn't occur, but all new
windows are placed at 0,0 coordinates (I'm not using any other WM, besides
Compiz).

At that time epiphany depended on the mozilla-browser and not firefox.
I still feel that if a user installs epiphany it should be set to the
default browser in. I do not know if thats the case now. Havent checked.
The shortcuts can't be removed now because firefox will still be
installed but that

Can confirms this.
If i restart /etc/init.d/dbus then the icons will show.
This happens every reboot. I'm using Dapper Drake Flight 3 with all updates
installed.
