I fixed it by commenting out the first line of /etc/apt/sources.list*:

This fixes the apt bug and Netflix now also works in Firefox!

Netflix does not work on Firefox on 20.04, even after enabling DRM. A
guide somewhere tells me I need libavcodec-extra, this reports:

Aaand now the issue just went away. apt and dpkg not showing any updates since
this report was filed.
I'm at a loss as to potential explanations. Machine was not under heavy load
during the time the symptoms were investigated.
