yes i do use crossfading, and now that i disabled it it doesn't hang anymore!
i'm really sorry but i tried to follow the wiki, it's too complicated for me,
i'm still new to Linux :/

the player hangs when i click on a wmv file to play.. it doesn't happen
when i open the file with Totem, and it didn't used to happen before i
upgraded to Ubuntu 9.04.. eventually i have to force quit the
application.
