If you remove the 'application/x-ms-dos-executable' from the
file-roller.desktop file Mimetype entry suddenly wine starts opening exes again.
There is no application/x-ms-dos-executable association in
/usr/share/applications/defaults.list (for file-roller or another program)
this can be worked around by installing the "Auto Hide Top Panel
Extension" extension and making sure that the top panel is hidden. This
makes the app capture the mouse focus as soon as you click on the
screen.

Yep i deleted the associations on ~/.local/share/application and the
~/.wine dir, reinstalled winrar and opened some files again. Behaviour
returned.
But the reason is actually clear now:

wine-extension-r23.desktop
mimeinfo.cache
I haven't noticed any difference. Note that i really meant the "open
with other application menu", not just the right click context menu.
