I'm unable to reproduce this error - I'm thinking it was a hardware
problem. Thanks for taking a long at the problem.

Sorry about not replying. I assumed I would get an email notifcation
that a response has been made.
I was using the Ubuntu 5.10 Live CD.
The next opportunity I get I will install nautilus-dbg (which I'm
assuming I can do while already booted to the live cd and under the
package manager via the G
