This caught me on upgrading from oneiric to precise, so it is still a problem.
I would suggest that the remove script (or a separate tool?) searches known
methods for setting the wall paper (unity-2d, unity-3d, gnome2, gnome3, xfce,

Just switched to Ubuntu 11.04, using Ubuntu-Classic and taskbar on bottom side.
I confirm that this bug is very annoying!
Actually, there could be 2 bugfixes:
1) shift scrollbar towards the window when close to taskbar, as it is when
close to screen edge.
2) display overlay scrollbar as now,
I provided a replacement for the inhibit applet ages ago. The
replacement supports both the Gnome Applet API and the App Indicator
API.

Since this feature is rather important for me, I have installed Dolphin
(from KDE) as a workaround. It's not the most elegant solution, but at
least with Dolphin (S)FTP bulk transfer works fine!

I still get the same behavior in 2.32.2.1, either when i move or shit-del a
file. It happens so often that I stopped using nautilus.
