Yup, #4 seems to have fixed it. That narrows the scope of the bug
considerably: now I'm reduced to complaining that it crashed, rather
than gracefully handling a corrupted database.

I expected to have the screen logo of ubuntu on my main screen. It
appears that this logo is screened on the most left screen. Notes that
the screen connexion appears fortunately on the main screen.

I've discovered that this bug actually comes and goes. Sometimes it uses
the progress bar and other times it doesn't. It seems to depend on the
song. Some mp3s will display the progress bar and others will not. Even
the ones that do do not seem to allow skipping forward within the song.

Unfortuatanaly I've got the same problem in Hardy. I assume it happened
after I update Ubuntu. When I boot into Hardy I got the message "Failed
to initialize Hal" and my network doesn't work at all. Everything worked
fine before. Is there a solution for this bug?
