I can confirm this patch solved my issues also. I have some other issue
that ends up in a mutter restart on suspend resume and this bug made
supending compleatly unusable since I lost the desktop.
To get around the build issue with "apt-src install mutter" I changed the rules
file in the debian

So I have this every time. alt f2 r gives me the "something went wrong"
If I do this without any opened windows on the desktop I do not get the
error but just one opened window is enough to get it.
I do not get a crash in /var/crash

the issue with not having the same output of the "id" command has gone
away after a reboot but something is still strange with that as I did
logout and login the user after changing the group settings for the user

Yes its the same issue. has to be something resent as 20.04 used to work
fine.
just to be clear I still have the same home(nfs) directory so local user
do not mean another user just that the user account information is local
instead of in NIS database.

So I just added the same information that is in NIS to the local file
/etc/passwd /etc/group and now its possible to login with the user so
it's 100% that gnome now stopped working with user data in NIS.

I could get the messages to stop by selecting quit on some cpu/network
monitoring icon at the top right.
once that thing stopped showing up I no longer get the messages. Not
sure what the extension was called. Can't turn on off extensions anymore

And this is on NFS mounted filesystems. so the .Trash- directory is
created for every mount point and files moved to trash is moved to that
directory but the content is not shown and not possible to empty.
This used to work fine but now its not possible to list or empty trash
on anything but $

There is something wrong with the emblems in nautilus in ubuntu 11.10.
I upgraded today and I can see the emblems on files but there is no way
to set them. I need this do I need to reinstall the OS instead of an

I now know what is happening. I had a large build system that failed if
/bin/sh pointed to dash so I set it to point to /bin/bash instead. That
is what makes the login fail. starting xinit then "/etc/gdm/Xsession
gnome-session" produces the following error

That line wrap made the execve log completely unreadable. here is a file
instead.

I also have this problem. the nfs server log gets flooded by mount
request for .TrashX. in my case it's the home directories that is
auto mounted and nautilus/gvfs tries to create directories in /home that
is never going to work
Something needs to learn to detect that /home/user and /home is n
