I changed an option in the Multimedia Systems Selctor that was initially
set to Autodetect and I changed plugin option to X Window System (No Xv)
and Totem stopped hanging and I can play videos perfectly now. I'm not
sure why this changed anything but I'm definately glad it did.

When I watch a video in totem I can see the video but there are strange
statickey bars on either side of the video. When I drag the video window
to the right side of the screen the whole screen flickers and everything
is in the wrong place. Sometime
