I'm not sure if this is important or not, but thought I'd add just in
case...
I just discovered the problem in Ubuntu Jaunty running Root Terminal,
something I rarely do. I installed the jaunty-proposed package as
described by Martin, and at first, it gave me a blank screen. Then, I
noticed that

I deleted unneeded items from main panel successfully. Then, when I
realized F1 brought up the same help as the help icon, I deleted the
icon, and received a debug error (string received, expected list). If
it matters, the help was open at t
