You are right. I have the Same behavior.
This happen when Rhytmbox is close and you double-click or right click
on the file and say "open with".
But if Rhytmbox is running and you do double-click or right click on the
file and say "open with" works fine.
I am using Feisty and Rhytmbox 0.10.0
I have almost the same machine and I do use beryl.
But I dont have that resolution maybe the problem is there
Could you Test the same issue in a low resolution ?
I use 1024x768

installation.
