*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 229270 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/229270
Please remove the duplicate tag. Bug 229270 has been fixed recently (using
Jaunty), but the gedit-over-SSH issue has not been resolved: if the user
doesn't match directly, gedit opens the file as read-only
Totally forgot about this bug. Excuse me.
I tried to trigger this bug again so I could trace the crash, but now
Rhythmbox doesn't crash anymore. The problem is still there though, as
when rhythmbox would crash one month ago, it now just keeps on playing,
uncontrollable.
Example:
- Open big MP3 1
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gedit
Recently, gedit fails at writing specific files over SFTP. When certain
files ARE writable (e.g. by group permissions, or because the user is
root) but not owned by the user directly, gedit kicks back in read-only
mode.
More cases of the problem
Bug #179110 talks about auto playback at rhythmbox start, I don't think
that is the same as this bug?
Anyhow, thanks for the hint, as I have been able to find out more about
the problem. It seems that trying to play a file (through command-line
options) which does not reside in my library results
David Prieto writes that rhythmbox /path/to/file works as long as the
file is not in the library. I experience the contrary, rhythmbox
/path/to/file does not work as long as file is not indexed. This is
not a missing feature, but a defect! rhythmbox /path/to/file should
work for any file, not only
Strangely, this bug seems to have disappeared for me. As it certainly
was present though I am using also gnome-utils 2.24.0.0-ubuntu1, I'd
think this bug is triggered by some other package.

Intrepid, but got the bug at Hardy too.
And what do you mean with the consistency? The bug triggers sometimes
(most of the times a double click just launches rhythmbox, and sometimes
the file actually starts playing), and is consistent with other media
files (files without spaces etc too).
So in
** Description changed:
Binary package hint: rhythmbox
Rhythmbox doesn't always react properly when trying to open a file by
passing it as an argument (or by double-clicking a media file, which in
fact works the same way).
Example file:

takes screenshot from the active window (the behaviour which should only apply
when using ALT+PRTSCR).
The problem is caused by the gnome-screenshot binary, which
Full backtrace added. Sorry for the wait, but evolution didn't want to crash
anymore. Now it finally crashes again, it keeps on crashing...
Anyhow, killing the data server does not fix the problem, as I said in the
first post.

Evolution sometimes crashes at startup. When it crashes, all following
tries will crash too. When I kill the evolution data server, the

there is one new message in it. When the mails gets sent, this indicator

I confirm this bug on a fresh Intrepid Alpha 5. Installing the freedesktop
theme makes the options available, and the sounds do play when I click the
play buttons (in contrary to what Dean Loros wrote).
The settings however do NOT apply to the system, as I checked the make a sound
