The fix to the original issue or to the problem of the presentation
taking over the second head and not appearing in the task bar?

Oh - no - I think you misunderstand. I had posted that previously to

apologize.

I apologize - but where would I get this pushed 'upstream'? And - by

The problem appeared the moment they enabled the ability to assign the
presentation to a particular 'head' or 'screen'. It simply refuses to
show up in the window list and does not play nicely when you switch
between different virtual desktops. It's been frustrating... I hope

My thinking was that maybe it is a common error by WM's that is specific
to how they speak to openoffice? Thus it would apply to Metacity? I
really don't know -- I'm trying to find out if this is the intended
behavior or not. Would seem to me to be a step back from a usage

build my own debs (great instructions by the way!). I have metacity
running with these patches applied - but Impress still insists on
opening the presentation on the primary display. I know that this is
'correctable' behaviour si
Ok - final comment on my own report -- I found a HOWTO post at ubuntuforums
concerning the patch found within my previously posted package link -- the
patch is metacity-2.6.3-xinerama-place.patch and has been successfully applied
to ubuntu. Any chance of making this patch official for ubuntu?
Did a bit more digging. This is an open report from a few years ago.
Personally it's a bit irksome that it hasn't been dealt with -- especially
since using metacity it is impossible to do a presentation on a second head in
GNOME - in effect making GNOME unusable for a dual-head presentation se
