Logging out an in again has the same negative effect. :-(

Hi,
I'm running 10.04 on a T42 ThinkPad. I'd like to turn off the visual
effects in System-Appearance-Visual Effects permanently. Unfortunately
after a reboot the settings are back to 'Normal'.
