I can confirm that I have the exact same problem in fresh install of ubuntu 18.04 today. Intel graphics here. Very annoying as this pops up just as I decided to upgrade after a period of testing ( where I never noticed this problem.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member

[Bug 1073823] Re: Shotwell does not link movies to events when migrating existing collection

Little more than a year later I tried once again if it was possible to import my existing collection of photoś and movies into shotwell. The movies however still do not get categorized based on their creation date to the events. This is still just like the initial problem. They all get tagged no

In fact I insert the SD card into my cardreader. No camera involved. As I mentioned before, the movie files are stored in a Bluray disc filesystem compatible format on the card. Maybe more info is present elsewhere in that structure, which is lost after files are stored on the harddisk. After

The impact of this issue might be mitigated once we have: http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/1594 Nevertheless it would save lots of time when as a last resort file creation date would be used for ordering in events. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop

Thanks for responding. It concerns the .MTS files (avchd, i think h264) from my panasonic camera. They are stored on the SD card in a bluray file structure. During import from the camera card, shotwell is able to gather information about the video files. Once they are on my harddisk it doesn't

Public bug reported: When I start to use Shotwell, I already have a vast collection of photos and camera movies. Thay are all stored in date based Folders. I want to merge it into shotwell and have photo's and movies on the same date linked to the same event. This can in theory be done based on

that is great news! Let's hope the friendly ubuntu people package this quickly so that all people with a panasonic digicam can download their entire card again, including movies 12.3 we await thee!! ;-) in the mean time i will have to deal with the fact that the shotwell icon is not shown with

Hi Adam, That is a real pity! A lot of digicams these days carry their movies in a acvhd bluray disc compatible directory that is not beneath the dcim directory ( at least the panasonic camera's) I was quite confident that shotwell would replace digikam on my wife's and my dad's new ubuntu

I tried that, but it will not link my movies to events based on the creation date that way. I'm quite sure the shotwell version in oneiric did that correctly. For me this application seems of no use any more. Such a pity. It was ideal! I can't see how many many users are not affected by this.

The last remark is a bit harsh I suppose. I admire your effort in making such a great piece of software. In the mean time I have compiled my own version op shotwell, where I changed the bit of code where it looks for dcim/DCIM. I will see how it goes. -- You received this bug notification
