me. But you have to SSH into the box to do this, which is an extreme
bandaid

As @ShuHung mentioned, disabling "Dash to Dock" keeps the session from
ending when turning off the monitor

once it started booting into Ubuntu, the last line (in 'text' mode) was
saying "changing into EFI VGA"; after that there were no monitor output,
as if it were connected, but just a black display; and unlike a
The NonfreeKernelModules information would be incorrect, since I
installed the nvidia proprietary drivers.
But it was using nouveau when it was freshly installed.
