I've identified the cause.
Would you believe it. I was caused by having seconds displayed in the
clock. Unchecking seconds stopped the high cpu activity as evolution-
calendar-factory went to sleep
I'm now interested in the bug fix!

I have no contacts showing from MSN at all. Status showing is Available.
i have Offline Contacts ticked.
I think MSN are responsible most likely as I had no problem until
recently.

Ok I used evolutions backup and then on Karmic imported from the
archive.
I'm afraid image loading is still very slow on Karmic. The images
loading can be seen in the status bar one by one and the message pain is
blank while they're being downloaded from the net.

I can confirm that this bug exists in Intrepid. Files from October got
todays,Nov/5/08 timestamp .
Canon G5 which mounts ok. Using nautilus works fine.

Intrepid clean install. Just transferred files with gthumb and the timestamps
are not preserved. However copying with nautilus, while painfully slow keeps
the correct timestamps.
Canon G5 camera. And it gets mounted correclty.

Every restart, I get large font sizes once logged in. clicking the
appearance menu I get this error. Screenshot attached.
Then the appearance menu comes up. Usually the fonts reset to my
preferences. Otherwise I bring up appearances menu and the fonts then
reset.

I've raised a bug for the camera issue. Bug 242647.
But it doesn't seem to have had any attention. I had to buy a card
reader and use cp.

I have applied all the updates and I'm still getting the system
date/time when the system imports files from my camera instead of the
creation date.
It was copying files from a usb stick that initially got my attention.

Just done all proposed update.
Connected digital camera via usb. Imported photo's via F-spot and Gthumb only
to fine that the date modified was todays date, ie the creation date on my pc,
and not the date

taken as the modified date.

If I select tools clear private data which clears the cache. Then press
F5 to refresh the page the image will appear when it was previously a
black rectangle.
