Good news! It seems it'll be fixed in 2.31.1. Look here:

(How to add a bug watch? I couldn't find an option to do this...)

The bug is still present in Jaunty, though only in GTK open/save dialog:
when I hit Backspace, it moves me to the parent directory, but also
makes a beep.

@Conn: Sometimes it leads to a mess on desktop, but sometimes it doesn't. It
depends on how you organize your files. I'm not saying that this idea is
completely without sense, but I think that some people would like to download
files directly to their desktops.
I suppose that changes in
@jamesmcm: yes yes yes!!! you're right, men! I was searching for a bug
covering the problem with this function, and your fix is amazingly
simple! I think that it should be fixed ASAP, because now Nautilus asks
me if I want to execute an .ini file:/ And it doesn't, when I double
click a bash
@agro1986: Just don't click the file for the second time for no reason
Believe me, I HAVE such a reason. Imagine a situation when you have several
Nautilus opened (at least one, not maximized). You have selected some files in
two or more windows or on the desktop and want to delete selected
Can I ask developers, what are the plans for this feature? Will it be
implemented in Karmic? Will there be an option to disable it? By
default, turned on or off?
Many people, as Textureglitch noticed, click the file twice to make sure it's
selected because they know about focus issues in Windows
Have you read comments on Brainstorm? Some people (including me) like the fact
that the Desktop folder is also Download folder. I know that other operating
systems have such a folder, but hiding downloads can be... how to say... bad.
It's like with apt cache dir - if you don't look there, you
I've read somewhere that it is hard-coded in gnome-panel source and has
no configuration, unfortunately. I would be thankful for creating a
setting for the number in gconf (at least).

I think adding some empty space (lets say 15-20px) to the left of the

If I can say something, it's one of the most annoying thing which
happens to me when I use Windows. When I click the file once more, I
just want to make sure that the file is selected (e.g. I want to delete
it) and not something else. Renaming file by clicking is very
unintuitive. If I want to
It affects also Eye of Gnome (eog), which is IMO more widely known and
used app. I linked it by the Also affects project, did I do it right?

Oh yeah! With version 1.1.1 of nautilus-sendto package I am now able to
send files with right mouse button!
Check it yourself (build for jaunty i386, but works in intrepid):
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/jaunty/i386/nautilus-sendto/1.1.1-0ubuntu1
If you get an error like Can't find the device on
Here you are:
$ nautilus-sendto Xmodmap
Init pidgin plugin
Init gajim plugin
Init thunderbird plugin
Init sylpheed-claws plugin
Init evolution plugin
//And now, the window appears, I choose my device and click send:
Segmentation fault
//The end.

Nope, it doesn't work, the window closes itself (crashes?) after
clicking Send.
Should I provide more information?

Same here. When I click Send, it doesn't even check, if the device is
available. But it works fine using Bluetooth Applet.
It worked fine on Ubuntu 8.04.
