You can make those settings permanent by editing
/etc/sysctl.conf
and adding the line
vm.dirty_bytes = 2
By issuing
$ sysctl -p
you won't have to reboot to use the new settings right away.
Anyway, for me it does not make any difference transfer speed wise when

Public bug reported:
Evolution fails to retrieve some 3-5 eMails via POP3 from my provider
(German GMX) for no apparent reason. These eMails...
-are from a different sender and date/time
-do not contain attachments
-are less than 27kB in size.
I have deleted the uid-cache file inside ~/.local/sh
I second that - Ubuntu 10.10 with English language but German keyboard
layout here. This is a bit annoying, as I use the calculator quite
often...

no specific steps needed - just have evolution start with a saved xfce
desktop session in xubuntu hardy/gutsy/feisty. as written above, it can
be solved by quitting and manually launching evolution, but after all
that's not what a saved session is supposed to work like...

Evolution: Can't move
after some days of testing, what i've found is, that this bug only
occurs when evolution is auto-started with a saved desktop session
(ubuntu hardy, gnome). the bug did not occur as of yet if evolution is
started manually. this behaviour, along with another evolution auto-
start bug i posted (#2156
HELL?! does anyone care about this bug? it does still persist,

can be re-synced by dragging them to a dummy folder - where the already

is anyone still on this one?
atm i find this bug definitely making evolution unusable, as i don't
have a chance of restoring the original allocation body vs. header.
