Please set /org/gnome/mutter/auto-maximize of windows to be disabled by
default since different applications behave differently and user can not
set the size of window close to the edge(s) of the desktop.

Ok, I understand now. I am running Ubuntu 25.04 (from daily/current) as
Virtual Box VM.
I tested Firefox screen size and it actually behaved differently.
Firefox opened in maximized first and then adjusted itself, its vertical
columns did leave some space on the d

selecting more than 36 rows makes terminal to start in fullscreen mode!

Another information about the bug :
I've played with Openarena game in full screen mode (resolution
1024*758) and, at next boot, the date applet has moved out the applet
zone, before the separation applet. If i reboot, the bug with icons
corrupted comes back and i must replace the applets
The same user had rebooted his laptop with metacity. With compiz, the
bug was often (each 20 boots) on the aera applets (right corner high)
and also with the desktop icon on the bottom panel at left (icon
corrupted).
With metacity, no bug appears on the top and on the bottom!
