I'have the same problem on 10.10.
When I unplug AC cord no power management works to decrease power consuption
and the battery not switch from AC

Sorry, I haven't understood if the solution at

I can confirm the same behavior with my HP Pavilion dv6000, Ubuntu 10.04.
Once touchpad's lock button is pressed, menu completely freezes and system must
be restarted.
This problem didn't happen in earlier versions of Ubuntu.
