Hi All, This is a bit long info. I can't help without writing all info.
I installed: Linux version 2.6.32-16 on 2010-MAR-31
I had this issue as explained above and there was no audio.

The next update was: I installed: Linux version 2.6.32-18 during the
first week of April [This one was while I tried to get the info on
backtrace from this URL: http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash as
requested by "Pedro Villavicencio wrote on 2010-04-05:"

I got an error as:
administra...@ubuntu1004:~$ sudo apt-get install yelp-dbgsym=2.30.0-0ubuntu2
[sudo] password for administrator:
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily
unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another
process using it?
administra...@ubuntu1004:~$

I got the same error even after many attempts.

And last week there was an update: Linux version 2.6.32-22 ========
which totally could not start my machine ===== The machine boots up and
displays a blank brown screen and hangs. This is where I was in deep
trouble in getting my ubuntu linux system back to working state.

I had to install Ubuntu 9.10 - partition the disk - got the GRUB option
to get into Lucid recover console. Finally I was able to get back into
Lucid OS.

Now the results are:
1) Still I'm not able to execute the command: sudo apt-get install
yelp-dbgsym=2.30.0-0ubuntu2 [Returns error as mentioned above]
2) Moonlight solved the problem of the firefox shutdown. Either Chrome or Opera
did not work with Moonlight.
3) Still there is no audio on my System.

After reading all this, Please let me know If I could provide more info.
Thanks a lot....
