There was a bug in telepathy-indicator which was fixed in version 0.3.0-0ubuntu3 which is in quantal-proposed. Would you be able to enable that repository and see if installing that fixes your issue. You will need to restart your desktop session for the changes to take effect I believe. ** Also af
