Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be
reproducable with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the
development release - Gutsy Gibbon. It would help us greatly if you
could test with it so we can work
here the output from ls -al after applying the chmod :
drwxr-xr-x 2 rbrandenburger rbrandenburger 48 2007-05-21 14:47 .Trash
it did not change anything on the behaviour though

I'm using reiserfs3 on a local disk. It started after upgrading to feisty.
I get the message only once, independant of the number of objects in the trash
can.
attached two screenshots showing my trash can and the message displayed if i
empty it.
The steps to reproduce it on my box:
