On Saucy AMD64, bookmarking works using the Cog method. The "Bookmark
This Location" option will be grayed out if the folder you are in is
already under Places or Bookmarks.
I can confirm however that editing bookmarks is still broken via
Files->Bookmarks. Unable to Add new bookmarks.

Got hdmi sound going, using additional drivers after reboot.
added my network shares in fstab then rebooted, added my bookmarks to the
network share, worked ok...

I try to add a folder locating inside my Documents folder. When I open
the cog menu, the item "Bookmark this location" is greyed out. So,
obviously, there is a bug.
Gnome Files 3.8.2, Arch Linux.

Okay, maybe this is not a very clear GUI -- I had selected a folder with
the mouse and then clicked the bookmark option. Was in home, so because
home is already in the left panel this silently does nothing. The
correct way is to navigate to the folder, then bookmark works. This also

And Ctrl-D doesn't work for me either since I upgraded to 13.04 today,
so apparently the cog is the only way to bookmark (even though it still
lists the "Ctrl-D" shortcut next to it).

is how it is by design, it still seems like a HUGE usability issue that
you have to Google around to figure out how to add a bookmark, whereas
in the past there were a number of more intuitive ways to do it (drag &
