Update: Installing pulseaudio fixes the problem. However, pulseaudio is not part of the standard Lubuntu installation, and I expect there is a reason for this. (Lubuntu is intended to be very lightweight, alsa should be enough for simple sound output.)
gstreamer0.10-alsa is installed, I take it this should enable gstreamer output with alsa. However, this does not seem to work any longer. ** Summary changed: - Gstreamer applications report "jack server is not running or cannot be started" and do not play + Without pulseaudio, gstreamer applications report "jack server is not running or cannot be started" and do not play -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gstreamer0.10 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1178272 Title: Without pulseaudio, gstreamer applications report "jack server is not running or cannot be started" and do not play To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gstreamer0.10/+bug/1178272/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
