[Bug 1246908] Re: ~/.gimp-2.8 directory and everything inside is owned by root

2017-10-24 Thread aaronfranke
I had this bug happened to me. Opened GIMP, but couldn't save a file to /usr/share/icons. So I re-opened GIMP with `sudo gimp`. Next time I try to open GIMP, I get permission denied. I tried removing the directory to hopefully let GIMP auto-regenerate it, but then I got a file not found error. --

This is not a bug report, and solving this is a support issue - you may want to refer to the docs of the chown command. ** Changed in: gimp (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gimp

Try to rename the Gimp directory: 1. stop all the Gimp processes 2. sudo mv "$USER/.gimp-2.8" "$USER/.gimp-2.8-backup" 3. sudo mv ~root/.gimp-2.8 ~root/.gimp-2.8-backup If after this operation everything works you can remove the .gimp-2.8-backup directories. -- You received this bug

I got the same error. First time after installation I opened gimp as root ('sudo gimp'). So it's initial configuration is set for root. Now 'sudo gimp' works perfectly. I don't know how to solve this.. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs,

The Xubuntu was isntalled as Alpha so maybe it was corrected meanwhile. I will see if I can check the problem on an updated system. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gimp in Ubuntu.
