I can't confirm on 14.04 Alpha-1, with or without indicator-appmenu.
@Jeremy, can you try using a live USB, just in case the filesystem matters?

Weird, the print items are also unactive there. I can't confirm the
issue though... we might need somebody having the problem to debug it
(would be worth trying out of an unity session/without the integrated
menus in case that's an issue without those), or to upstream it

As you can see, I don't get a "Save as" when I open that link in gedit.
All I have to do is tell firefox I want a file to be opened in gedit and
the bug appears, there are no further steps or details.
