I just discovered a neat feature that I never thought Ubuntu had, but
which proves that I do have the MP3 CODEC already in place:
Setting the folder option to Show Icons and letting the cursor rest

Just ran:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/home/torben# sudo aptitude install gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg
gstreamer0.10-gl gstreamer0.10-plugins-base \
> gstreamer0.10-plugins-good gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad
gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-multiverse \
> gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multivers
But MP3s play perfectly in VLC Media Player...are they using separate
CODECs?

I've untill now only worked with MP3s. But I noticed that none of the
preset radio stations - whetever format they streamer - neither works.
If you by codec mean what I've set in Music Player Prefs --> Msuic -->
Preferred Format, I've picked the preset "CD Quality, MP3 (MP3 Audio".
And I take that
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Which kind of file are you trying to reproduce? do you
