Thank you very much for the fast answer and sorry for the question about
the programs.
In order to have an emblem, the only thing needed is to have additionaly
entries like in
$HOME/.nautilus/metafiles/file\:%2F%2F%2Fhome%2F`whoami`.xml

Whether the softwares use those directories is an user question and
should rather be sent on a forum, the bug tracker is about describing
and fixing issues
