Does anybody still get the bug in gutsy? In which case could you reopen
the GNOME bug?

The bug is still not fixed in current gutsy.
I'm not sure the GNOME bug #443956 is the same as this one
I'll link bug GNOME bug #473987 to this bug tough.

I'm sorry. This isn't a duplicate of bug 32490. I should have mentioned
this bug didn't occur last week before I apt-updated gedit.

search adds slash to escaped strings
the escape is a feature of the gedit now, take a look to:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=443956 ; not a bug anyways.
** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 32490
Search and SearchReplace have a problem with the \ backslash
** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #443956
I’m confused or my report was poorly written.
I search for \nTest which has an escaped character which means new
line. That's totally fine for me and that is not what my bug is about.
The bug I am reporting is that i search for \nTest which is matched or
not. Everything is fine.
Then if I want
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=443956 is Search: \n not taken
literally
Again, this is not what this bug here is about.
\n is corrupted to \\n in search memory is what this bug here is.

Sorry for the spam but this might make it even clearer:
What happens to the search string in the search dialog as it is reopend (1st
time, 2nd, etc.) :
1st \n
2nd \\n
3rd \\\n
4th n
5th \n
etc.
I seriously doubt this is the same bug.

Arg, sorry again.
My example is wrong. These slash multiplication occurs when there’s more
that just \n, like \nTest and doubles, not just increments by one.
\n actually becomes U+000A displayed as a square box with codepoint
after the first search and dialog reopening.
