Also running kde programs has same problem and no fonts either. Some times
program starts with normal, some times it's waay too wide.
I tried also running tilda, and same problem. Changing font doesn't help

I used the command from the original bug to fix it:
TJ: To correct it, use this command by doing Alt+F2 (or a terminal if you can
see to type) and do:
$ gconftool --type float --set

After the current upgrade update-manager suggested to me a couple of
hours ago I had similar problems. I also noticed that the Apearance
dialog failed to open (Gutsy here). Look how neat the terminal window
