Public bug reported:

Having the full date is a basic function of every file browser but it
seems it was completely removed from gnome and nobody cares over
there... That is unacceptable und - quite unbelievable ;-)

I'm using Ubuntu 14.04.01 LTS 64bit

Here's a users's patch which at least adds a custom selectable "full datetime" 
column, which would be fine as a solution.
