Since the workaround at #1424362 works and the symptoms are similar, I'm
going to call this a dupe.

these bugs also appear with XFCE DE. Meanwhile this installation has

Henk, as on the other bug, it would be useful to know if this works with
the other desktops environments. If so, we should also check against the
older lxsession. Failing that, I'll have to hunt through the manifest
more.

This bug and #1424362 were likely introduced in the beta-versions of
Lubuntu Vivid Vervet as alpha-versions both on my 32-bit and 64-bit
systems do not show these even after being updated.

Same problem in my 32-bit version. Anything in GUI requiring permission
seems not to work (bug #1424362) . E.g. I was unable also to change the
video driver.
