the backtrace is not really useful, but the issue is in python code and
gedit doesn't use it by default, could you try to disable plugins and
see if that helps?

Well, I have disabled gedit crash reports a long time ago, and I don't
get the dialog explained in the link you provided. But, I did ran gedit
inside gdb and the backtrace output is in the attached file. I hope it
helps. If not, how to re-enable crash reports for gedit?
