Got it working.
I had the notes set to show on all workspaces. After I toggled that
option off and back on it started working ok.
It looks like sticky-notes got confused when I started using compiz and
had that option on.

This works perfectly here with compiz and the nvidia driver. Can you
describe what happens in more detail? Does the note get stacked under
other windows? Does it get put on another viewport?

I have an nvidia video card with the nvidia driver. This happens with
7.04+beryl and 7.10+compiz.
This happens with the original gnome sticky notes applet, not tomboy.

Thanks for your report, It works fine here with or without compiz. Which
video card do you have? Which version of Ubuntu are you running?
