There are two folders in the tests/ directory, unit and interactive. I couldn't get the interactive ones to work and their name implies that they won't be useful for automated testing? The "unit" tests are now being run as part of the build: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/3.24.2-
