I looked into this a bit and the feature worked differently than I thought. If you pick one of the 4 choices, it creates a __custom theme in ~/.local/share/sounds/ (derived from Yaru if Yaru is your selected sound theme) with just the alert sounds overriden. GNOME is looking for help in perhaps
