I can confirm that system sounds are broken in Ubuntu 8.04. I can play a music CD and the Sound Playback in System->Preferences->Sounds produces a tone, but I cannot play the login logout nor the information and warning messages. -- System sounds aren't being played in Hardy. https://bugs.launc
