Also tested gnome-calendar 3.34.1-1 in a live session using daily ISO
20191008 and found that it starts as it should from the Activities
Overview.

Since I raised this report there's been an update to version 3.34.1-1.
Immediately after updating I confirmed that the calendar still would not
start. Now I find that the calendar starts every time so the problem
seems to be fixed.
I'll leave this to the other affected users to provide the request

after getting the issue?
