Public bug reported: Today I noticed that dragging icons up and down the launcher is painfully slow, to the point where it feels like the desktop has locked up. The gnome-shell process is pegged at 100% while this is happening.
Restarting gnome shell (alt+f2, r) makes it faster to refresh the move of the icon but still super slow at drawing the line where you drop it. However, it's super fast on clean boot of a separate machine - x220 (7 years old i7) and another nvidia 960 gpu equipped i7 laptop.
