Heres what I'm going to try, booting off my 7.10 live cd and setting up
samba on it and testing if that works. If it does, then its something I
configured wrong and we can close this bug report.

Well, all I did was go to Places->Connect to server. I chose Windows
share. For the server I put in the name of my 2nd pc on the network and
for the share I put the name of the shared folder. After that, when I go
the Places and click on the new menu item for it, it takes me to my Home
folder inste
Could you describe easy steps to trigger the issue? There is no other
bug about that and it could be something specific to your configuration

- driver from my Windows share (only one tried) and later clicking on it
