Ted, I couldn't agree more. I'm not sure I fall into what you would call "someone official in Ubuntu", but I am the Kernel Bug Triager. My stance on these is to have reporters, with any deviation from the reported bug they think is affecting them, file a new bug while subscribing to the bug

Same Problem. I use VMWARE player and it can take control of USB devices. If I insert any pendrive Windows 2003 through VMWARE recognizes it as a USB 1.1 device. If I try the same trick booting my PC from windows the pendrive is recognized as USB 2.0 both by the host windows XP and the vmware wind

The priority should be changed to high. This is a BIG issue, someone capable should fix it. Bug description: Ubuntu 9.10 -> Slow USB transfer speed, while copying (starts with high speed for about 150m, then speed drops to <1 MB/s. Tried it with several USB sticks. Did not try the terminal yet.
