it does not crash anymore - thanks !!!
One little problem that I still have (which may be due to my
misconfiguration), is that it does not browse the networks automatically
(presents an empty window)
Closing the bug since it's fixed now. The new description is not clear
but you should open a new bug about that if you think that's a bug

do you still get the crash using a new account?, i try to reproduce this issue
on my machine running hardy 32bits up-to-date and don't get any crash, works
just as should.

I checked after re-booting - not sure what you mean by using a new
account. The Network window opened up correctly, but showed no
networks.
I do have a working network, with a workgroup called WORKGROUP,
connected to another computer, as confirmed by nmblookup -S workgroup
No crash, as you say.
